Path of Beast Resistance

Path of Beast Resistance --A Limericked Shun on Taking a Run

My friend and I, we log our miles,

Treading trails with smirks or smiles.

We run or walk

And often talk,

But sometimes we face terror trials.

The kinder people lend us space;

They grin and move along apace.

Yes, some will nod,

As on they plod,

But others echo dark disgrace.

For this, we seldom run alone.

Although our fears be overblown.

It just takes one

To come undone,

When faced with fiendish goon or crone.

Who knows what lurks within the wood,

For evil or perhaps for good.

Each step we take,

For Heaven’s sake,

We might be safer in the ‘hood.

Yard Beast

In hare-raising circumstances, the best leverage may come quite naturally.

My domain is under a dare.
This gardener is reaching despair.
Each plant that I sow
Does get up and go,
And I blame an oversized hare.

This steroidal creature dines well.
Of that we can patently tell.
With swagger she’ll eat
Then stagger to feet –
Off under my shed, there to dwell.

I’m sure she has family to feed,
And nature preserving’s my creed.
But blooms disappear;
She grins ear to ear.
Must I territory concede?

At last, I can see through the fog.
It’s time to respond, go whole-hog.
Look out, bunny girl.
Get lost. Take a whirl.
Ears up, as I send out my dog.

Treading Plodder - A rhyming bill on the dreaded 'mill

Sometimes exercise must include a compromise.

Treading Plodder
A rhyming bill on the dreaded 'mill

The gym is a needful nightmare.
I’d much rather run open air.
I’m not one to quack,
But the track hurts my back.
And the treadmill does draw me to stare.

It’s climate-controlled, but a drag.
Aromas expressed make me gag.
Don’t look left or right;
The freaks give me fright,
Although I’ve no reason to brag.

I’m glad to come in from the cold,
But I shudder some sights to behold.
So I pound out each pace,
Guarding personal space.
Perhaps I am just softer souled.

Wednesday

Knock-knock. Whose dare?

What’s waiting for you out there?

Knock-knock. Whose dare?
A quadruple lento to make a memento

Aye, dreams, they are fantastical.
Nigh days, though, chaos bring.
By mayhem’s mix bombastical,
Why do mistakes upswing?

Chill. Marvelous and crazy treats
Fill up the books today.
Will favorite coffee, chocolate sweet
Still summon you to play?

In light, extraordinary sights
Spin wonders, call you out.
Then leave your blanket for delights.
Chin up, and walk about.

Come. Strange adventures beckon us
From hither off to yon.
Dumbfoundedness can be a plus,
Thumbs up, and let’s begone!
