Intruding on an Introvert

Nomads never know when numbers enlarge.

“Ahoy! Who goes there? Reel us in.”
The eager skipper shouts again.
I bite the dust,
Although I must
Hospitably respond. Chagrin!

I shudder, as the boat he guides.
Too early were the changing tides.
Inside I know
I’d rather go
Where downsized company resides.

In bygone times, I loved a crowd.
I welcomed chatter, long and loud.
It seems of late
I hesitate,
I’d rather walk the row unplowed.

The landing party steps ashore.
My island’s teeming with their corps.
Halt my routine;
I’ll bear the scene,
Till they embark a-sea once more.

Knock-knock. Whose dare?

What’s waiting for you out there?

Knock-knock. Whose dare?
A quadruple lento to make a memento

Aye, dreams, they are fantastical.
Nigh days, though, chaos bring.
By mayhem’s mix bombastical,
Why do mistakes upswing?

Chill. Marvelous and crazy treats
Fill up the books today.
Will favorite coffee, chocolate sweet
Still summon you to play?

In light, extraordinary sights
Spin wonders, call you out.
Then leave your blanket for delights.
Chin up, and walk about.

Come. Strange adventures beckon us
From hither off to yon.
Dumbfoundedness can be a plus,
Thumbs up, and let’s begone!

Secret Summoning

Maybe sometimes the Creator makes waves to roll our attention in the right direction. Or is it simply because the swells delight Him?

Secret Summoning
A terzanelle of call to tell

A secret sort of summoning,
It rocks me from my tired trail.
A secret sort of summoning,
It’s nature’s calling, all-out wail.
As sand greets water, so I lean.
It rocks me from my tired trail.
Transforming message, ne’er serene,
Sends birds a-flight to whirl away.
As sand meets water, so I lean.
I scarcely sense, but don’t delay
To race the tides before their wave
Sends birds a-flight to whirl away.
A burst of breeze does spirit save.
It chills me so, yet still it dares
To race the tides before their wave.
Somehow I sense the Maker shares
A secret sort of summoning.
It chills me so, yet still it dares –
A secret sort of summoning.

A terzanelle is a poetic form which employs a strict rhyme sequence and the repetition of specific lines. This structure can be tricky to produce, while maintaining appropriate rhythms and sense, but the result can be telling indeed.
