Wednesday

Over and out

The changing seasons in northern climes have a tendency to turn elated attitudes to unhinged spirits, if we let them.

Over and out
(A musette to offset)

Skies fade.
Symbolic blues
Cascade,

Lifting
Melancholy
Drifting.

At last,
Noble rescue
Is cast.

Tuesday

Coming clean

Because a change of season is good reason to let the breeze in.

Coming clean

The clock is shifting. Months unwind.
It’s time to leave the rest behind.
The snuffs that emanate from stuff
Must be removed. I’ve had enough.

In flowing force, I fill four crates
With fashions from my shifting weights.
I slide the boxes to the stairs.
Continuation? No one cares.

The rhythm of the season calls.
It’s nearly time to deck the halls.
No pressure but my urge to sort;
Decluttering’s Olympic sport.

Throw up the windows; catch a gust.
Arrange the knick-knacks. Kick up dust.
The vacuum sings its favorite keen.
C’mon, who says a whistle’s clean?

‘Dem apples

Tasty or Waste-y? Delights may turn enjoyment to blights.

‘Dem apples

They say the fruit does not fall far.

How do you like ‘dem apples, dear?

The test is tossed. The choice is clear,

Although the bet may be bizarre.

One-sided coins fill not the jar,

But one pomme spoiled the lot may smear.

They say the fruit does not fall far.

How do you like ‘dem apples, dear?

The pungent smell may reach afar,

Though swirling sea still spins the sphere.

 “It wasn’t me,” sounds insincere

When bitter flavors shade each star.

They say the fruit does not fall far.
