Perhaps . . .

Perhaps . . .

Spring

A P’s Offering

Perhaps the pair of use might walk –

To pick a path to stroll and talk,

To peek at posies in the park

And promenade till way past dark.

Perchance we’ll pause and ponder pasts

Or pine for promises that last.

And possibly, we’ll make our peace

With playful pastimes ne’er to cease.

Check Your Box

He’s Got Mail

A mystery missive arrives with a bill,

Proclaiming a figure that brings on a thrill.

What was his reaction to find it unsealed?

A cynic or gullible, what was revealed?

A true sweepstakes winner, a sap or a sage?

Was he merely jaded or naïve for age?

As he scans the small print to learn of his prize,

We might gauge his odds by the look in his eyes.

What wonders await him? What fortunes come through?

But wait! You and I got the same letter too!

Romp in Circumstance
(An American Sandwich)

Flashing lights mimic insights
of late-night, last-minute exam reviews.

Proud elders and educators beam
with wonder, hope and disbelief.

They leave their high school days behind
with a joyous toss of mortarboard.

Spring Showers Renew

Stubborn

Pique

Remains

Intact,

Negating

Gentleness.

Someday,

Humbly,

Obeisant,

We

Encounter

Reinvigorating

Strength.

Rising,

Energized,

New –

Each

Wonders . . . .

Oh Kay

Oh, Kay!

Croquet, By F. Meaulle, 19th Century

The Wicket Woman

A Wry Limerick for an Old Dog’s New Trick

A hard-working woman named Kay

Knocked off for a game of croquet –

She gave it a whack,

Discovered her knack –

Soon Kay was no work and all play.
