Crossing the Lines - – A Rhyming Moan on the Ringing Phone

Crossing the Lines –
A Rhyming Moan on the Ringing Phone

Commuting home, I grab my keys
And head inside, to take my ease,
But something interrupts me, “Geez!”
My stress load rises, ten degrees.

Telemarketer, my dear friend,
Test my ring-tone without end;
Make my cordless ring again,
And my late dinner hour extend.

What are you hawking with your call?
A raffle for the firemen’s ball?
Or garbage bags, our trash to haul?
Gimme a break, you know-it-all!

Telemarketer, my dear friend,
Test my ring-tone without end;
Make my cordless ring again,

And my late dinner hour extend.

You’re raising consciousness for pets?
Collecting funds for army vets?
I’ve one of each and need no debt.
You’re playing telephone roulette!

Telemarketer, my dear friend,
Test my ring-tone without end;
Make my cordless ring again,
And my late dinner hour extend.

Why can’t you just leave us alone?
You make my family moan and groan.
My temper’s in the danger zone.
I guess I’ll just unplug the phone.
