E Is for . . . Extremism and Excellence
To him whose eyes are cast
On things around him with a ray
Turned back upon the past?
From “A Dream” By Edgar Allan Poe 1809-1849
The Present
The victory and excellence
Belong most to the present tense.
A coin, flipped heads or tails, cannot
Move destiny to stronger spot.
The rules are pure and plain, my dear.
Though lawyers talk, they cannot hear.
In fact, the opposite occurs,
As fortune settles and defers.
Then, bored, the experts face the drive,
To push and pull, but ne’er arrive.
The habit, echoes heretofore;
Pursuers profit nevermore.
What a beautiful poem you have posted for ABC Wednesday Letter E.

I really like this little poem that puts an interesting spin on the movers and shakers of the financial world.
ReplyDeleteGreat job - the rhythm is wonderful and the words are real!
ReplyDeleteIt's all about the here and now,. The 'p' words; past and potential, mean nothing to some.
ReplyDeleteWhat a creative contribution to ABC Wednesday.
ReplyDeleteThanks for being part of the day.
Really delightful. I love the image of people striving for conflict without resolution.
ReplyDeleteThe ending seemed sad to me? Maybe I'm the only one.
ReplyDeleteI like your poem, it's quite neat and your web site looks good, I can't wait to see more of it on my return from Peru. :) Sheri
