Raise the Roof

Raise the Roof

Did you ever encounter one of those people . . . who think the rules do not apply to them?

Tight Spot

The driver was proud of his place.
He put down his pager to race
Until a low ledge
Dismantled his edge –
Immediately he lost face.

Could be superstition at best;
Perhaps he just needed a rest.
Still, rules do not waive
For such a close shave,
So now he must retake his test.

  3. Wow, that's not good. I would hate to be underneath that thing when he did that or behind him. Nice poem to go along with it though.

  7. Dear Knickers and Kink (with silent Ks, of Kcourse)

    In an homage to 80's rock, similarly intransigent as that ledge, this could also have been titled "I can't drive...55".

    What a delightful piece. It reminds me of some of Piet Heins' Grooks.

    Thanks for sharing. I should have made it to the Monday Poetry train on time, last week. Better later than never, I suppose, unless you are the late...
