Adapted Apologies Aren’t

Adapted Apologies Aren’t
(Not kissin' the "but")

"I’m sorry, but –” ain’t gonna work.
Your alibi’s simply knee-jerk.
Excuses don’t fly.
I’m not your fall-guy.
Your "Sorry" falls flat with its smirk.

Forgiveness is pure and divine.
It wipes away guilt’s bottom line.
Still, wounds that may last
Make fences hold fast.
And so you are no friend of mine.

  2. Wonderfully clever--the best kind of humor that has wisdom in it. I'm so excited to meet a fellow poet!
