Taken for a Ride

Taken for a Ride

Driving Lessons –

A Limericked Load from Life on the Road

My teenagers teach me a ton,

Particularly on the run.

They learn to drive,

Arrive alive

And love to have me ride shotgun.

Along the way, I have to say,

I learn to drive from them each day.

Like up the wall

And crazy, y’all

And true hard bargains on display.

But none can drive a wedge between

A parent and a growing teen.

Just hand those keys –

Now, if you please,

Along with green for gasoline.

Still, batty they may drive me yet,

For this may be a constant threat.

They drive me wild,

And make me riled;

These driving years I won’t forget.
