A-Z sketches in verse: Ladies Can Lead

A Rhyming Replay on Equal Pay Day

Fret not, though a female may stand at the helm.
Her goal is to pilot, not just overwhelm.
She captains the ship with a confident hand,
Through waters unknown, though some misunderstand.

Her visage is soft, but her countenance firm,
Committed to carry the journey long-term.
But the helmswoman wonders, along with her crew,
When may she receive equal pay overdue?

NOTE: April 14, 2015 is Equal Pay Day in the US. This represents the point on the calendar to which the average female reportedly must work into the new year to match what her male counterparts may have earned in the previous year. Currently, according to the US Department of Labor, a woman earns approximately 78 cents for every dollar a man earns in the same position.

  1. Very true, sadly an uphill battle. Was just a battle for her to have that position and sadly it's still not true for several jobs out there.
