Overshares and unawares: A-Z verses from vintage visages

Just observing, perhaps a little outlandishly, an occurrence found often online. Not singling out anyone in particular. But I’d bet we all know a few folks like this. Heck, we’ve probably all been like this, at least occasionally.

Overshares and unawares

The vast worldwide web, it is fairly ablaze

With images sweet of the offspring you raise.

Your obvious pride is for all eyes displayed,

With each little breath photographically played.

Each image in order, with outline to boot,

And video streaming your toddlers’ salute –

Objectively speaking, your kids are ideal.

And none can deny your allegiance is real.

It’s not that I’d ask you to close or conceal

The vast overshares or your precious appeal.

But, honey, your wee ones do o’ertake the feed.

I can’t find my other friends’ updates to read.

And yet it bears mention, lest this one forget

That I post at least as much ink of my pet.

Little for long: A-Z verses from vintage visages

Little for long

Little for long, how at times I recall

Those dearest of days, when they still were so small.

I later look back at the path we have trod

And know it is only by great grace of God –

The hard years we managed to more than survive.

We’ve come through the furnace, unscathed and alive.

Not little for long, they have revved up the clock.

The chimes ring much faster than I can take stock.

Behold, all the answers they claim to possess

To queries unasked. They believe their own press.

And now, though I try to stay out of their hair,

If they were just little, I wouldn’t have to share.

The world, vast and challenging, calls them by name

In tones that appeal to them, young hearts to claim.

And though I believe they have tools to stay strong,

I still wish sometimes they were little for long.

A-Z sketches in verse: Occasionally Overwhelmed

 He’s overwhelmed and overdrawn,

His sense and wits have long since gone.

Though rationality forbids,

His wife asked him to watch the kids.

She calls it parenting, no doubt.

But clueless, he is fizzling out.

He moans and groans to pitch a fit

And says he has to babysit.

It feels like days, he tells the guys,

While entertaining tots pint-size.

At last, he hears the creaking door.

She just went to the grocery store.

Crafty Lobbies

Crafty Lobbies

Beware of both sides of the lobby,

Where practiced may be much hobnobby.

Each end needs a pill

To swallow and swill,

Before someone forms a lynch mobby.

For crafty these lobbyers be.

They seek to knit issues for free.

Perhaps both have lost

At premium cost,

Despite a Supreme Court decree.
