ABCs of Worship

ABCs of Worship

Acrostic poetry need not contain rhythm or rhyme, but I chose to employ these poetic structures for this particular acrostic poem.

May the Lord of Lords be praised.

Praise the Lord –

An Acronym to Worship Him

Praise the Father,

Royal One,

And the Spirit,

Inner One,

Sacred God,

Eternal Son.

Time before –

Hear Him roar

Ever more.

Laud Him always

Over all

Raise His praises.

Death may fall.

Praise the Lord.

Finding Composure

Posted in response to a One Single Impression prompt on “melody,” a Saturday Free-for-All prompt on “You rearrange me till I’m sane,” a Sunday Scribblings prompt on “happy ending” and a Monday Mural image (left).

“All my longings lie open before You, O Lord;
My sighing is not hidden from You.
I wait for You, O LORD;
You will answer, O Lord my God.
Come quickly to help me,
O Lord, my Savior.”
(Psalm 38:9, 15, and 22, NIV)

Finding Composure-
Seeking Remission from Decomposition

A single chair folds with a creak,
As audiences sit and peek.
The violins are tuned and set.
We’ve come to focus and forget.

The maestro lifts his graceful wand
To carry ears to realms beyond.
The happy end, for which we thirst
May never be too much rehearsed.

I’ve sown too many wild oats
‘Mid tattered sheets of written notes.
The melody that hides beneath
Is difficult to share, bequeath.

I clutch the bow and grasp the frets,
With buried bountiful regrets.
The composition fairly sings
Of ragged memories, broken strings.

A single sheet in any key
Will never offer guarantee.
For music does require a muse,
Your inspiration to infuse.

The masterpiece, it must found
To resurrect a lovely sound.
The truth is ever painful, plain,
“You rearrange me till I’m sane.”

Author’s Note:

“You rearrange me till I’m sane” is a single lyric from “Brain Damage,” a song from Pink Floyd’s 1973 album, On the Dark Side of the Moon.

Style Revival – A Rhymed Passion for Lasting Fashion

(Written upon request of Poetry Train’s “metamorphosis” prompt.)

Style Revival –A Rhymed Passion for Lasting Fashion

It’s said that clothes can make the man,
But this I cannot understand.
If fashion sends the world a-spin,
Then I need to begin again.

My closet bulges at both ends,
Outdated styles, faded trends.
My clothing choices fit me not,
And my designers should be shot.

A finer wardrobe beckons me
That fits my person to a tee.
These gowns won’t wrinkle, spot or stain,
And ever stylish they’ll remain.

So, Lord, please robe me with Your grace,
With Your eternal change of pace.
A gown of scarlet, washed like fleece,
Your shining glory to increase.

I need a metamorphosis,
From what I think to how it is.
Remove the scales that hide my eyes,
So I can focus on the skies.

Then I will sing forevermore,
A new creation, to adore
Your highest mercies; hear my prayer,
And lift my eyes from things to wear.

For fashion’s fickle; styles fail.
Your loving-kindness will prevail.
And Heaven’s garment never frays,
Although we kneel to raise Your praise.

Worthy Wealth

"He has made everything beautiful in its time. He has also set eternity in the hearts of men." (Ecclesiastes 3:11)

Lord, please grant that I may leave footprints in souls, not merely in the soil. Make my life count for eternity, for Your Name's sake. Amen.

Worthy Wealth -
A Cinquain on True Gain

What really matters?

Blessing
Finding Favor
Seeing, Sharing, Sowing
Leaving Marks for Eternity

Power and Provision - A Poetic Paraphrase of Psalm 146

Power and Provision -
A Poetic Paraphrase of Psalm 146

Let my soul sing to the Lord,
Exalting Him in tune and word.

I adore Him, while I live,
Lifting high the praise I give.

The highest royalty can't save,
As mortal men go to the grave.

They fall and vanish, like the soil,
As nothing comes from all their toil.

But happy are the ones who trust
The great Jehovah, who is just.

Creator of all things that are:
The sky, the sea, the earth, the star.

Our Maker's caring is displayed
With freedom, food, and other aid.

He opens up the eyes born blind
And lifts the humble; He is kind.

The orphan, outcast, left alone
Can find in Him a loving home.

But those who set out to destroy,
He blocks and frustrates every ploy.

The Lord is King forevermore,
May generations Him adore.

Praise the Lord forever.
