Upsy-Daisy

A pep talk lift to rally swift.

Uh-oh. Don’t be in the dumps,
Just because you bear some bumps.
Upsy-Daisy! Off we go.
Life’s a doozy, don’t you know?

Tempest’s teapot is upsot,
Tip-top takes more than we’ve got.
Up united, we can fly.
Two together, touch the sky.

Hold on tight, and trust the wind.
Cringe and cry, but be thick-skinned.
Promise you’ll enjoy the ride,
Once we reach the other side.

Garbled style for awhile

Garbled style for awhile
(When fashion’s vault leads to default)

This wardrobe needs an overhaul.
Perhaps a field trip to the mall.
Well, here’s the gist.
My kids insist.
They’re calling in a wrecking ball.

With dresses from the seventies
And other fashion felonies,
My style brings shame
Upon my frame.
It’s time for new amenities.

Say, can you see pale jeans with bells,
The stonewashed skinnies, fond farewells?
Old cuffs and pleats,
Toss those receipts.
A road trip calls where whimsy dwells.

Don’t get them started on the shoes –
The pointy toes, spike heels – bad news!
Oh, clogs, bewares!
How many pairs,
All suffering from overuse?

My jungle – cluttered, hackneyed, spent –
Brings me to radical repent:
No wild fads,
Just classic adds.
To window-shop won’t reinvent.

I shudder still with coins in hand.
If I had bills, I’d hold them fanned.
I do declare,
With pockets bare,
Such outings may be less than planned.

A change in vogue does me confound.
What if old fads come back around?

Saturday

From zilch to zing: A-Z verses from vintage visages

From zilch to zing
Rhyming views on returning hues

The stairway from boring to bright
Brings frustrated frowns back to light.
From grainy and chipped
To zany and zipped,
We zoom to the zest and ignite.

As zombies, kept captive beneath,
No image of worth to bequeath,
We huddled and shook
As long as it took.
Till false proved the evil one’s teeth.

Our colors now glow without lamp.
Our spirits are no longer damp,
As boldly we stride,
No joys still denied.
For we from the gloom did break camp.
