Just Joy

I’ll here admit it: Life is tough.
Some days I think I’ve had enough.
Although I know it’s all been planned.
It’s hard to get the upper hand.

When circumstance goes ‘gainst the grain,
And daily drudgery does drain,
I hearken back, which takes a choice,
To listen to another voice.

 Ridiculous as it may sound,
Truth is, the downcast will be crowned.
When wrong’s removed and right is raised,
I know who will be ever praised.

Today is hard. There is no doubt.
I’m tempted to prolong my pout.
But I will hold my ground, prevail.
For happiness to joy does pale.

Weep Show

When weeping won’t wane,
And a whine turns to wail,
When pouring one’s heart plain
Transforms to travail,

A strange sort of break may
Occur in the soul –
The floodgates of faith, they
Do one over-bowl.

Vast mountains of misery
Move just a wee smidge;
Forgiveness calms waters
Gone under the bridge.

‘Tis then that one’s weeping,
No mere sorrow show,
May move on to reaping
To best what we sow.

Boundary Busters

Boisterous bundles can become bold beings.

As blessings bounced and drained my brain,
Their stamina hard to contain,
I sought a sign,
Lines to define,
That one day they’d be right as rain.

When they were wee, I’d watch each hour –
Beg Heaven for the daily power.
They’d jump, take wing;
I’d stand and sing,
Assured one day they yet would flower.

These boundary busters, strong and sure,
Did test all limits to assure –
If fences hold,
Then truth be told,
The ground beneath will stand, endure.

Outside the lines, where words ring fake,
The game is more than give and take.
Assailed by hearts
That issue darts,
May their foundations stand the shake.
