Shopping sense: Don’t breathe a third of it

Sometimes browsing leads to paying through the nose, even if we don’t actually buy anything.

Shopping sense: Don’t breathe a third of it

While hunting about for a favorite scent,
A most earthy essence entwined us.
We picked up the pace with a swift circumvent,
But the putrid spice cloud still did find us.

“Come sample my wares,” chirped the clerk, as she bent
To refill her sprayer behind us.
“Oh, cease and desist, Ma’am,” we chanted lament,
As her sample mist nearly did blind us.

How browsing may be, for a lady or gent,
A pastime to share and unwind us,
Except when a demo with active intent
And scent overdose does remind us.

A-Z sketches in verse: Quacking Up

I think I may be quacking up.
It could be I’m just tired.
But looking at my face close-up –
Leaves much to be desired.

The bags under my eyes are black,
This look I can’t ignore.
I’m pretty sure that they could pack
A family of four.

The origami on my mug
No makeup may disguise.
But I accept it with a shrug,
As it full life implies.

V is for Vanity – Rhymed Acrostics A to Z

Vows of vainglory may sound vapid and vague. Still, the looking-glass beckons us to reckoning.

Vanity

Vacuous though it may be,

All the world is vanity.

Notice not that we be blind,

Ill at ease, and disinclined.

Tell us what we yearn to hear,

Yes, you’re simply lovely, Dear.
