Miffed and Adrift

Miffed and Adrift
(posted for a Mad Kane Humor prompt)

What is it that makes some frustrating folks cling desperately to real or perceived grievances, even when spite may carry too dear a price?

And why is it that reconciliatory efforts (even when initiated by those who have been wronged) may have little effect with such angry birds?

Miffed and Adrift

A woman was in a bad mood.
She stuttered and stammered and stewed.
With hankering hunch
And shorts in a bunch,
Irately she barked at her brood.

By drawing conclusions so swift,
The hothead gave friendship short shrift.
Thus, given to gloat,
She soon missed the boat
And sent her affections adrift.

Unfortunate that she may seem,
She self-manufactured the scheme.
Though bridge builders tried
To stem fury’s tide,
Backpedaling sent her upstream.

On Completing the A to Z Challenge

That does it!

Today is May Day. Let’s celebrate? This day marks the completion of the month-long A to Z blogging challenge, as well as National Poetry Writing Month (NaPoWriMo).

What a feeling to have completed both tasks!

OK, I didn’t post 30 poems here, but 28 (see complete April list – below). However, I published additional poems during April, like those linked here, so the NaPoWriMo challenge is complete.

At the request of the A to Z Challenge organizers, here's my summation of the experience.

A-B-Seized

The gauntlet was tossed out to see,
A challenge from A clear to Z.
We posted each blog,
A month-full to log,
And welcomed our readers with glee.

Now April is spent. Hello, May!
The alphabet challenge gives way.
Yet posts will persist;
For we cannot resist
Partaking in wildest word play.

For letters are love in a swarm
To practice, pretend and perform.
And ink is a drug
That helps us unplug
Whenever life sends us a storm.

Thanks to all the faithful fellow bloggers and writing colleagues and readers for visiting and commenting throughout the A to Z Challenge. Welcome, new subscribers and blog followers.

Here are my A to Z Challenge posts for 2011:
