No truth in the booth

When it comes to directives, maybe it’s more about perspectives.

No truth in the booth
An acrostic selection on the pending election

Conflict and chaos send voters awhirl,
As contrary claims are debunked, truth grows muddled.
No ballots are counted, but we’ve come hinged.
Don’t we know better by now?
It’s clear the world’s gone topsy-turvy.
Debaters dig deep for dirt, and vice-versa.
Ask anybody. Even the future’s door is turned upside down.
Time for a reset. We’re not gonna find a Savior on the ballot.
Everything changes when we realize this isn’t really our home.
Suppose we remember the Lord isn’t running for President.

Roll tape with mouths agape

Is anyone filming this crazy nightmare?

Roll tape with mouths agape

Unconscious and irrational,
Like toys we are played
And tossed into the bin
When the child loses interest.
Rag dolls and action figures,
We fall atop one another,
Waiting for attention.
Empty promises are
Senseless and absurd.
But we gobble them still,
Hoping this time
Our globe will spin
The other way.
“Roll tape!” we chant.
“Give us tales to tell
And stories to shout.
Tell us you really mean it this time.
Play us again.”
But our batteries are losing juice.
We’re becoming broken
With frayed edges
And faded faces.
Film at 11.

Extra! Extra! Plead All About It: A-Z verses from vintage visages

Extra! Extra! Plead All About It

Unless I find some new ice cream,
I might resort to plans extreme.
The extra topping may be poured
Of wisdom’s gems let go, ignored.

My attitude is misconstrued.
Perhaps I need some solitude.
Exciting though the outcome be,
It’s simply not my cup of tea.

Opinions expert miss the goal.
Misgivings meet misplaced control.
And here’s the scoop. No need to wait.
Thus wins the loser candidate.

The multicolored re-spun quotes,
Like foamy frost on root beer floats,
Leave me unsatisfied at best.
We’re finished, and we’ve failed the test.

Democracy has been replaced.
Hypocrisy it’s about-faced.
No celebration’s toast with cheers,
But we’ll be back in four more years.
