Pickin’ Up Pounds

Perhaps pudding’s proof is found in the poof.

A new baker’s dozen,
The doughnut does fill.
Temptation is buzzin’,
Eclipsing the will.

Pie in the sky
On your thigh,
In your eye –
Heavy sigh.

Mere calories nameless
May do one no harm.
Meandering mindless,
Resolve they disarm.

Physicians can’t sidestep:
The pot, still it grows.
They test everything ‘cept
Pinocchio’s nose.

Pie in the sky
On your thigh,
In your eye –
Heavy sigh.

But no pie that’s humble,
No penitent tart –
The oafish crust’s mumble
Will gain no fresh start.

‘Tis those who keep measures,
Not willing to flake,
Who fear not such pleasures
And thus take the cake.

The Sparing o' the Green

The Sparin o' the Green

Ugh, hold the cabbage and corned beef.
The mere thought makes me wanna heaf.
I’ll wear the green
To make the scene.
But, please, the menu needs relief.

The leprechauns can have it all,
Or to the porcelain god I’ll crawl.
The festive fare
My guts may tear.
So count me out for dinner’s call.

St. Paddy’s table makes me green.
I bet you know just what I mean.
I’ll take a pass,
Kind sir and lass,
Instead of making quite a scene.

I’ll grab a simple P-B-J,
Bid all adieu. Be on my way.
This day of luck,
I won’t upchuck.
Tomorrow I’ll be fit to play.

B is for Bakery - Rhymed Acrostics A to Z

Begging for a bagel, bialy, baklava, or bun? It’s B-Day!

Bakery

Blessed bounty boasts to greet -
Aromatic oven treat.
Kneaded, rolled and rising right,
Epicurean delight.
Regularly, I forgo,
Yet today, I can’t say, “No.”
