Kicking appeals: A-Z verses from vintage visages

Kicking appeals -
Tossing rhymes at clownish crimes

It takes some skill to toss a blade.
Add one or two, and be afraid.
These antics entertain the kids,
But sanity such tricks forbids.

The nimblest so may deftly dance
And leave the dangers all to chance.
While melancholy ones yet quake
And linger ‘neath the veil opaque.

Bystanders wonder, watch, recoil.
I wait here for my blood to boil.
You crack your knuckles, chuckle, hoot.
Your trickery is absolute.

Oh, giggle as you ply your skill
To carve the crowd to suit your will.
May sense prevail and notify:
Your timing may have gone awry.

So just for kicks, let’s talk some smack.
Keep knives aloft, not in my back.

  2. Ooh! Hello, fellow A-To-Zer! This is such a fun poem! I like your meter- not that I'm the best judge- still, it seems to flow. And the last stanza made me smile.
