Night Gnomes

A couple of elves take the load off ourselves.

Methinks that there might just be gnomes in the night,
Who hammer unseen to their own just delight.
They jammer just so,
And grin with each blow,
But never neglect what they need not to know.

When stuff disappears or perhaps is mislaid,
These two are to blame in the victim’s tirade.
For sure, none but they
Would squirrel stuff away.
Well-played, little nasty night gnomes. So well-played.

And if any notions arise and raise ire,
No nonsense worth nickering draws friendly fire.
Two patsies, this pair
Are caught unaware.
“The gnomes must have done it” is all we require.

Though no one has seen them, we know they exist.
And thankfully, by them our gripes are dismissed.
For these evil twins
And their secret sins
Do vanish each day in the new morning mist.
